General Manager – Air Barrier


Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Oversee employees in a production and manufacturing environment supporting the B330 spacecraft hull structure
  • Direct daily production activities and maintaining schedule to meet critical deadlines
  • Strive to reduce expenses and increase productivity
  • Set and monitor product quality standards
  • Ensure operations in accordance with company’s manufacturing system
  • Train and work with employees for continuous improvement in efficiency
  • Reconfigure staffing as necessary to maximize productivity
  • Schedule multiple projects/production jobs while maintaining the highest quality standards
  • Minimum 10 years experience plus 5 years supervisor experience in similar field such as balloon manufacturing, watercraft air bags, marine fuel bladders, light weight fuel cell bladders, collapsible and portable secondary large volume containment systems or space rated materials
  • Previous experience in heat-sealable flexible barrier materials is a plus
  • Solid math skills, ability to work independently and leadership qualities are a must
  • Extensive knowledge in materials and processes related to textiles and fabrics
  • Must be able to read engineering drawings and blueprints plus have complete understanding of softgoods or textile production tolerances
  • Operational knowledge of automated flat cutting table systems with CADD software
  • Associate’s Degree in business or engineering or a related field
  • Previous military fabrication knowledge in the parachute or canvas field of production is a plus
  • AS9100 experience or knowledge preferred

Since 2006, we have successfully launched and deployed three expandable space structures, to include a human-rated module attached to the International Space Station. Presently, we are working on the research, design, and development of our next generation of human-rated expandable habitats, the B330 spacecraft. We are also currently partnered with NASA to assist with developing commercial and deep space habitation concepts as part of their NextSTEP (Next Space Technologies for Exploration Partnerships) Habitation Systems program.
