Mechanical Design Engineer Internship

Bigelow Aerospace is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineering intern. This is a paid internship based on experience and it is offered throughout the year for a period of three months. We have openings for both part time and full time internships. Potential full time hiring opportunities will be based on evaluations made upon completion of the internship period. This includes performance, work ethic, and specific needs of the department. All interns must be able to work out of our North Las Vegas headquarters.

  • Gather and understand the project design requirements
  • Perform related analysis and classical hand calculations to optimize design of product
  • Modify and revise designs based on cost and manufacturing capabilities
  • Work with structural analysis to verify capabilities of structure before fabrication
  • Organize design reviews and presentations among peers to gain design feedback
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings to ANSI Y14.5M standards using GD&T for manufacturability and repeatability
  • Process design and documentation revisions according to proper procedure established by Bigelow Aerospace AS9100D Quality Management System requirements

  • BS in Mechanical, Aerospace or equivalent engineering field
  • Experience with SolidWorks software
  • Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5M standards and GD&T
  • Comfortable with hands-on work
