Description

Bigelow Aerospace is seeking a Test Engineer intern. This is a paid internship based on experience and it is offered throughout the year for a period of three months. We have openings for both part time and full time internships. Potential full time hiring opportunities will be based on evaluations made upon completion of the internship period. This includes performance, work ethic, and specific needs of the department. All interns must be able to work out of our North Las Vegas headquarters.

About You

You should be a highly motivated, highly analytical self-starter with good communication skills (both written and verbal), and should be able to work in an iterative and prototype-focused development style with a cross-functional team including mechanical and electrical engineering, software development, design, human factors, fabrication and research. You are diligent with deadlines and can work in a team environment. Most importantly, you’re excited to be part of something big!

Responsibilities

Because we are a small and nimble team, you will have the opportunity to work with, and learn from, everyone on our team. Some specific responsibilities include:
  • Validation by test of metallic, electrical, and soft goods products produced at Bigelow Aerospace
  • Write test plans, test procedures, test reports, ENBs, and any other written document needed to support the current program
  • Collect, transfer, and interpret test data into the most appropriate format to insert into test documentation
  • Track personnel tasks, test department deliverables, and improve department processes
  • Write and diagnose test software for the purposes of data acquisition. Research instrumentation uncertainty and appropriateness for the current test
  • Design reviews, software reviews, test readiness reviews, and department update meetings
  • Perform test site preparation activities, conduct tests, and support tests on-site

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering or Aerospace engineering
  • Experience with LabView

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
